App Annie analytics and security

Seems like people tend to speak highly of the AppAnnie analytics service. As far as I know you do not need to insert an SDK in order to have some kind of analytics over your Play store, such as positions in the charts, changes, etc. You only need to declare your Developer console credentials.
Question No 1: Have you used it and is it really useful?
Question No 2: Should I trust them and give them my developer control account, even the password for it? This worries me quite much.
