Hit the Amazon app store top ten - why?

Over Christmas I had an email to tell me I was the the 10th best selling app in the "sports" genre. Thing is, I was only selling 6-10 apps a day.
Ok, these are paid apps but I thought it would be in the hundreds or even thousands to get to this awesome status!
Google play I reach the top 40 maybe,
Is Amazon and google really selling so few apps?
Confuzzled but happy!
Enlightenment on this would be appreciated.

    To be clear, I did check the app store and was in 10th place so it was not a fake e-mail.
