Any news on android material design and side menu andromo needs this so bad too make our apps look good especially with the newer versions of android such as kit kat and lollipop.

No, nothing new to report on the topic. However as mentioned previously, it is something we will be looking at in the future. Other tasks to finish up first though.

@dub_boy: A quick tip: Try using the classic layout and instead of square icons make rounds ones. Also use a blurred background for example. Voila, you've got a super modern design.

@hendrixs those are great links as mentioned above, but my app opens up to the live stream and automatically plays the stream (makes my app driver friendly).

And In terms of material design I was referring to the action bar, and a slide out menu rather than a drop down menu.
