  • We've been fixing bugs and working on features. Once I'm done fixing the bug I'm currently working on my next feature will probably be a background effect for the background images (assuming no other critical bugs need fixing first). Sub-dashboards…
  • @sylviathewitch that is something you can actually apply to the source image yourself -- the midnight effect was just a greyscale transformation; something that can be done in any free photo editing tool. We might add some background image effects …
  • @gangbang we aren't planning on providing the repeat and tile options in v5, just the standard background image. So, you will need to create a large square image containing the image repeated within it using an image editor, if you need a similar ef…
  • @gangbang it's actually using the same code for calculating the number of columns as it did in v4 -- there is currently an issue with the column calculations when small images like icons are used; it's something on our list to look into after the ba…
  • BTW, although the next update will add basic support for background images, we have some additional updates planned for the future that will make using background images even better. Stay tuned... :)
  • @atlas I think your wording made @colin think you meant something else. There won't actually be a setting to control the card height; it will be an alternative item style you can choose (with shorter cards). We will probably have a few more item st…
  • Work is also still progressing on the background image support -- be aware that it is not a quick/small change, but it has been my primary focus since early last week.
  • @atlas that's correct, changing the aspect ratio of the feature image only affects the height of the feature image (and the toolbar, depending on your settings). The aspect ratio of the card image is set to 16:9 inside the item layout, and that asp…
  • @rottencorpse1976: the frosting effect is actually something you could apply to the image itself if you wanted it across the full image like that. We will add some new item styles that allow the background image to show through in various ways. Th…
  • @stephyap the background image will be displayed without any of the "frosting" options we had previously -- instead, users will be expected to provide images that ensure sufficient contrast with the text colors they choose. So, it will be …
  • @atlas: the height of the cards is determined by the individual item style; the card styles are currently set to a 16:9 ratio (as recommended in the material guidelines). We'll definitely consider adding some shorter styles in the future, though. (…
  • Please open a support ticket to report any bugs you find. Some bugs are going to be expected as 5.0 is now being used on a much wider range of projects and devices than we can test ourselves. Please provide as many details as you can (especially de…
  • > Hi, I've seen some bugs, in gallery the option "Set image as" doesn't work. Do you mean "Set picture as"? Were you trying to set it as a wallpaper or a contact photo? Can you provide more information? Especially, the exact…
  • I can answer a couple of those: > 3. Which dashboard "list" style most closely resembles the old one? Depends on what settings you were using before, but probably "List: square title subtitle 01" > 4. Is there no longer …
  • As Colin said, once Andromo 5 is live, you will NOT be able to build your apps with the old look and feel again. The new look and feel is so much better! But in order to make it possible, we had to abandon some old things that just didn't make sens…
  • There won't be any new audio features on release -- we have postponed all such changes until after the initial release so we can get the new theming stuff etc. out as soon as possible. We will probably be busy for several weeks after the initial re…
in Andromo update Comment by lorne May 2017
  • Generally wifi connections are handled in the device settings. Once you've connected to a wifi network, the device will remember those credentials until you change them or explicitly tell the device to forget them.
  • The answer you seek is in the knowledge base. See: Linking to another activity
  • That link should work. I used it in a test app and it worked fine here, buffering took less than a second (on wifi) and I haven't had any problems playing it on a Nexus 5. If you're encountering playback issues it is either a problem with your conne…
  • There is some discussion of that in this other thread.
  • I'm not following the first link, but the other two lead to HTML pages exactly as I described above.
  • It must be a direct link to a compatible stream...if there is an error, either the URL is for something else (such as an HTML file), or the audio stream is not playable on the device. Generally file sharing services won't work for this, unless they …
  • Google analytics will continue to work, but we will be switching to Firebase when we can in any case. However, it probably will not be something we can implement until the material design update, which we continue to work hard on.
  • It's still unclear exactly what will need to be done, but Darryl is investigating. AdMob has been part of Google Play Services since late 2013, however apps were also able to include a standalone AdMob library for when Google Play Services wasn't av…
  • I do not know when it will be done, but we are working very hard to get it done as soon as we can with the resources available to us.
  • Firebase can't be implemented in the current version of Andromo, as it won't work with the old build system...so that cannot happen until the material update. But we do plan to implement Firebase support, and to switch to that for analytics.
  • Just FYI, that doesn't actually affect Andromo at all. The Andromo build system uses the Android SDK directly. Studio is an IDE or "integrated development environment," which is a fancy way of saying a Java editor (with helpful tools) that…
  • We're aware of Firebase and intend to use it for analytics in (or some time after) the material update. I don't think it would be possible sooner because of related build requirements.
  • I'd also be careful following any links in that email, as it could be a sophisticated phishing attempt. (Check destination addresses carefully.) I'd suggest that you contact AdMob by browsing directly to them or using links that you know are legitim…
  • It depends what you mean. If you mean making an app for phones/tablets that displays TV channels, I believe some users have accomplished this using the HTML Archive to show embedded players. Make sure you carefully abide by the terms of use for any…
