Linking (Google play to Admob)

Dear all,

Is it very important to link my app to play store ? I keep seeing this link in each one of my apps inside admob telling me to link my app to Google Play. How important is that ? I can see even without linking my app my earnings are calculated so why the need to link it?? I searched Google but found nothing that help. Please if anyone knows i want to know too.

    I do not link my apps there anymore. Rumors say that by linking them you risk a little bit more if you have more than 1 GP accounts. Plus, actually no-one knows what the benefits are.

    Thank you @anteos. I won't bother to link them anymore since that is the case. I will contact AdMob to see if there is any benefit in the linking though.
