Youtube ID with spaces not valid

The Youtube ID I want my app to contain has spaces in the name. When I enter the ID, it says it is not valid. I've tried no spaces and the name is valid, but no videos show up in the actual app. I've tried underscores and dashes also. Can anyone please provide some advice?

    The YouTube User ID has a space in it? You could try encoding the space with %20. So:

        my user name

    Becomes

        my%20user%20name
