I wondered if there was a way of using my own logo bar across top of my App instead of the default one. Thanks any advice greatly received...

The 'action bar' is a standard Android UI convention. However, you can put a logo on your background and even adjust the margins for the Dashboard to help position the logo as a 'bar'. Give that a try!
